Subject: Research Cluster on AI & Society

Description: This is a research cluster funded by the Illinois Program for Research in the Humanities (IPRH). We are an interdisciplinary group with intersecting research interests in the history, socio-technical nature, and consequences of artificial intelligence (AI), particularly in issues related to ethics, privacy, and the use of AI in media distortion, propaganda, and disinformation. We are also interested in ethical and socially intentional uses of AI, which anticipate and attempt to mitigate negative social consequences, which design for diverse users, and which work towards positive cultural, and social change.
